What the hell is going on
Let’s get Real….
Overwhelm.
Hopeless.
Anxious.
Angry.
Stressed.
On edge.
Defeated.
Frustrated.
Unfocused.
How many of these can you check off for yourself?
There's no judgement here. I have been feeling a lot of this myself.
We are living in a brave new world. This....whatever is happening right now, it's not the same as last year or the years before, this is different. Like on a new level of constant head shaking. It all is feeling a bit much to say it lightly.
You are not alone.
Families, parents, businesses, the sick, the healthy and so on....we are all trying to do what is necessary to keep our sanity. Making difficult choices. When things are already challenging then another wave comes and in a lot of cases that I am seeing, another wave comes.
I honestly stopped trying to make sense of it.
But what I do know is that Mother Earth is not happy and secondly, there is a lot of Fear heavy in the air. Attached to all that, heart break and sadness, overwhelm.
I don't have all the answers as I am doing my best to navigate this time for myself as well.
What I am going to offer up is simplicity.
Keep it simple.
The world and life already feels quite full and is asking a lot.
When you start to notice you are afraid, angry, anxious etc. Ask yourself : What do I know to be true in this moment?
Did you have nourishment today? Access to food and water?
Are you safe from the elements?
Do you have clothes to wear?
And lastly, Are you breathing?
And then notice your breath.
How wonderful it is. It just keeps doing it's thing over and over again. Supporting us in each and every moment of every day.
The truth is..... a lot that is buzzy up in our brains and why we are getting set off so much more easily is because we are residing mostly in our limbic brain our "survival" brain. Doesn't that make sense?
And most of our thoughts are from the past and the future.
We lose sight of what is true: This moment.
I don't know what to do with what I am feeling?
This is coming up daily, multiple times.
So how do we help ourselves. Don't you dare ever forget that you can help yourself!
I want you to go back to again, what is true.
What has worked in the past.
Was it meditation?
Was it yoga?
Was it cooking more meals at home?
Was it making more family or alone time?
Was it getting a Life Coach or Therapist?
Was it reading more? And for fun!
Was it playing fun music?
Was it dancing?
Was it taking baths?
Was it going for runs?
Was it journaling?
Was it leaning into your faith?
Now I invite you to start implementing one thing.
Just One Thing.
Put it on the calendar (paper or in the phone).
Commit to being an active participant in your well-being.
Just start.
I'm sure the routine will take some getting used to but your future self and your loved ones will thank you.
If you want to feel better you have to choose differently for yourself and it's as simply as choosing one thing every day.
You have done it before, so tap into the library of your brain and start to create a new path for yourself.
And one more thing, let us not take for granted each and every day we are here to enJOY this life. It is your birth right to be Happy, Experience Joy, Feel Love and it's OK to feel this even when others are in a different space.
